The Sunshine Coast, where your adventure holiday begins!

Categories: Blog - Tags: ,

We all know that the Sunshine Coast offers fantastic scenery, gorgeous weather, and lots of things to do. The biggest plus, however, is that it’s an incredible holiday destination for those who adore adventure, and there are masses of activities on offer.

Diving

In 2005, the forty-year-old HMAS Brisbane was scuttled 9 kilometres off the Queensland coast to create a dive wreck and an artificial reef. Within nine months, the wreck was colonised by marine creatures, and is now a treasure trove of many different species.

Entry to the Ex-HMAS Brisbane Conservation Park is only allowed on production of a permit, so you need to dive with an authorised dive shop. Most companies cater for beginner to advanced level divers, and offer a variety of dives. You’ll have a dive of a lifetime as you explore the wreck.

Horse riding

For those who prefer dry land, horse riding is the perfect adventure sport. Ride along Noosa North Shore and into the adjacent bush where you’ll spot a large array of birds and wildlife. Horse riding allows you to get close up and personal with the environment, and you’ll be immersed in the scenery and have the opportunity to paddle in the surf with your horse. A number of tour operators offer daily and overnight horse riding adventures.

Jet skiing, kite surfing, and kayaking

If speed is your thing, jet skiing and kite surfing are sure to please. Ride the ocean or the river, and experience the adrenaline rush of swift movement and, at the same time, take in your beautiful surroundings.

Kayaking is a slower method of travel on the water, but just as exhilarating. Glide along the Noosa River, listening to the sounds and absorbing the sights of the bush, or venture out into the ocean and perhaps meet up with the dolphins.

Cable Ski Park

Ever tried water skiing without a boat? Bli Bli Wake Park offer water skiing, wakeboarding, and kneeboarding for the adventurous tourist. You’re towed around the lake by an overhead cable system that is quietly powered by electricity, and, if you wish, you can negotiate a set of obstacles. Beginners are also catered for and you can request lessons. Great exercise, reasonably priced, and loads of fun.

Sky diving

Not forgetting those who regard the sky as their adventure playground, sky diving is the ultimate adventure. A number of sky diving operators offer tandem jumps along the Sunshine Coast, and you’ll have wonderful views of land and sea, incredible thrills, and a landing on the beach. Take away still photos or a DVD of your jump to show friends and family back home.
