Shopping, Sunshine Coast style!

While most people head to the Sunshine Coast for their family holiday to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and swap it for the relaxing slower pace of the beautiful beaches, the Sunshine Coast hinterland or just relaxing my your resort swimming pool, there are still a lot of visitors that love to shop while on vacation.

Unlike other popular tourist destinations, such as the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast is not overpopulated in retail shops, however there is also no shortage of big name shopping outlets to get your shopping fix.

Around 20 minutes drive south from the Beach Retreat holiday apartments at Coolum Beach is the Sunshine Coast’s main shopping Precinct, Sunshine Plaza, which is over 7 days a week and caters for everything you could possibly need, with all the big name stores you’ll find anywhere else.

A visit to Sunshine Plaza and you’ll find over 220 specialty stores, boardwalk restaurants over the natural waterway of Cornmeal Creek, as well as taverns and bars, and even a 12 screen Events Cinema complex, just in case you do come across a rainy day and the kids get restless!

There is ample parking, however the local bus service is available directly opposite the Beach Retreat Coolum apartments, so you can leave the car securely parked and take the picturesque and relaxing journey direct to the Sunshine Plaza.

Sunshine Plaza offers an array of great stores, including major Department stores such as Myer, Target and Kmart, and also all your favourite fashion stores including Peter Alexander, Country Road, Esprit, Rip Curl, Unit and many more.

In fact there are so many stores you’ll most likely find yourself spending the entire day there!

Nearby, the new Maroochydore Homemaker Centre offers the best in home furnishings, including the largest Harvey Norman store in Australia. You might find yourself going home with a car full of new furnishings from your holiday!

Further down the Sunshine Coast at Kawana is the Coast’s second largest shopping, Kawana Shopping World.

While much smaller than the Sunshine Plaza, Kawana Shopping World is not short of big brands including City Beach Australia, Fashion Fair, JB Hi-Fi, Lorna Jane, Just Jeans, Katies, and of course everyone’s favourite donut shop, Donut King!

Closer to Noosa, you’ll find the Noosa Civic Shopping Centre has plenty to offer as well, including retail stores Lorna Jane, Jeans West, Michael Hill Jewellers and more. Well worth a stop in if you are passing by on the way to Noosa’s popular Main Beach.

So whether you come to the Sunshine Coast to catch the sun’s rays or to catch yourself a shopping bargain, you’re sure to find it all while visiting the Beach retreat at Coolum!
