Cycle Queensland Adventure Tour is an opportunity for cyclists as well as spectators to enjoy the beauty of the Sunshine Coast in the annual cycling adventure tour that is coming to Coolum for the first time in 2014.
A great deal of preparation and planning goes into the annual event, which has attracted over 700 riders.
2014 Queensland Cycling Tour
The Queensland Cycling Tour purpose is to encourage more interest in cycling as an activity and a way to have fun. The 2014 event will take cycling participants through a 9 day, 540 km tour that begins at the beautiful coastal village of Agnes Water and will end at Coolum Beach. Cycle Queensland says the tour will take riders along the route “via the spectacular beachside town of Bargara.” Cyclists will not be totally weary of a constant 9 day ride; instead they will experience the luxury of having all their meals, hot showers, entertainment, medical and other support provided by the Cycle Queensland support crew.
The 2014 tour cyclists will start pedaling from Agnes Water on Saturday 6 September, “via Seventeen Seventy, Rosedale, Bargara (for a rest day),” according to the Coolum Beach site, and will continue on through Childers, Biggenden, Widgee and Cooroy. On Sunday, 14 September, cyclists will complete their 9 day tour when they arrive at Coolum Beach.
Cyclists participating in the Cycle Queensland Adventure Tour do not have to be professional cyclists. Anyone who can ride a bicycle is welcome to participate in the annual event. Cyclists come from many areas as cyclists ride for a two-wheeled adventure challenge or simply for fun.
Coolum business community ready for Cycle Queensland Adventure Tour
Coolum Business and Tourism has been working with organisers “to provide infrastructure, facilities and activities for the riders once they cross the finish line at the event base, Coolum Lions Park.” Coolum will offer a variety of amenities to cyclists and their families.
Whether you are a cyclist, a member of a cyclist’s family or a spectator, The Beach Retreat at Coolum offers opportunities for holiday relaxation. The resort offers a great vantage point as cyclists ride the final leg of the tour into town. The Beach Retreat at Coolum features stylish accommodations ranging from studio accommodation up to a 3 bedroom resort-style ocean view apartment. Enjoy the sauna, spa bath, children’s wading pool, onsite café/bar and other amenities. Close to many dining and sight-seeing opportunities, The Beach Retreat is the perfect location for you to enjoy your holiday at Sunshine Coast paradise.
