When we think of winter we don’t usually associate the beach as a great place to spend the coldest australian season of the year, but in fact the beach can be one place where you can shake the winter blues.

This July the Sunshine Coast becomes a winter playground for many beach-loving sporting enthusiasts with the Beach Bash Sunshine Coast being held at Coolum Beach.

The Beach bash is no ordinary race though, and probably not for those looking for a simple run on the beach.

No sir, Beach Bash Sunshine Coast is an extremely challenging obstacle race which blends the sandy terrain of the beach with a challenging obstacle course, gruelling enough to test the sporting elite, while also being something for the entire family to enjoy together.

The main aim of the Beach Bash is to promote health and fitness, but most of all just create a great day out at Coolum Beach that everyone can enjoy.

The Beach Bash Sunshine Coast is going to be held at Coolum Beach on Saturday 19th and Sunday 2oth of July starting at the Coolum Beach Surf Club.

Saturday morning starts with the Emergency Workers, such as Fire, Police and Ambulance workers showing off what they are made of, with all proceeds going to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Then from 1pm the Junior Beach Bash kicks off, for children of 4 – 10 years. The kids will love this mini beach obstacle course designed just for the little ones, and covers a total distance of 1km.

On the Sunday, the main Beach Bash event takes place, with competitors leaving in groups, with the first wave of competitors off the line at 7.30am at Coolum Beach, set for a gruelling 5km challenge.

There are two age groups for this challenge with a 10-16 year old challenge, and also the adults challenge.

The Sunshine Coast Beach Bash is definitely going to warm things up at Coolum Beach, with competitors and families from all over Queensland and beyond flocking to Coolum for this once a year event.

If you are thinking about attending make sure you register online now as numbers are limited.
